Terms of use and booking The small print, in plain English.
The terms that apply when you use this website and when you book us. Please read them before you book.
About us
Bristol Drone is run by James Winch and is based in Bristol, UK. You can contact us at jameswinch95@gmail.com. In these terms, “we” and “us” means Bristol Drone, and “you” means the person or business using the website or booking our services.
Using this website
The information on this website is general and is here to help you decide whether our services suit you. We keep it accurate and up to date, but prices and details can change, and your quote is what counts.
The photos and video on this website are third-party works used under their own licences (listed on our image credits page) or licensed stock, so please don’t copy them from here. Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we’re not responsible for their content.
Quotes
Quotes are free. Each quote is a fixed price for the work it describes and includes travel, which we charge at £0.45 a mile each way from central Bristol. VAT is not applicable. Your quote sets out what’s included, the deliverables and how long the quote is valid for.
Booking and payment
A booking is confirmed when we both agree the quote in writing (email is fine). Payment terms, including when payment is due and whether a deposit applies, are set out in your quote.
Permissions and access
We check the airspace and arrange any aviation permissions a flight needs. You confirm that you’re entitled to have the site photographed or filmed, and you either arrange permission for us to take off and land from the landowner or occupier, or tell us who to ask. If a flight can’t go ahead because agreed access or permission isn’t available on the day, we’ll agree a new date with you.
Weather and safety
Flying safely and legally comes first. On the day, the pilot decides whether the conditions (such as wind, rain, visibility or airspace restrictions) allow a flight, and may stop or postpone a flight at any time for safety reasons. If we can’t fly because of the weather, we rebook at no cost, and you’re never charged for a weather cancellation.
If you want to cancel
If you’re a consumer and you book with us online, by email or by phone, you have 14 days from the day you accept our quote to cancel for any reason, and we’ll refund anything you’ve paid within 14 days of your cancelling. If you ask us to carry out the work within those 14 days, you’ll pay for any work done before you cancel, and once the work is complete you can no longer cancel.
Outside that period, or if you’re booking as a business, please let us know as soon as you can. Any charge for a late cancellation is set out in your quote.
If we need to cancel
If we have to cancel for any reason other than weather or safety, we’ll offer you another date, or refund anything you’ve paid for work that hasn’t been done.
Delivery
We deliver media by secure download. Unedited media is typically delivered within a few working days, and edited work follows the schedule agreed at booking. We keep a backup for 12 months from delivery and then delete it, so please download and keep your own copy.
Media and usage rights
We own the copyright in the photos, video and data we create. Once you’ve paid for the job, you can use the media for your own marketing and records for as long as you like. This right is non-exclusive, which means we may also use the media, for example to show examples of our work. If you need exclusive use, exclusive licences are available (see pricing). You may not resell the media, or license it to anyone else, without our agreement.
Our responsibility to you
We’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We carry drone third-party liability insurance for our flights, and damage to property caused by our negligence is not limited by these terms. For anything else, our total liability for a job is limited to the price you paid for it.
We don’t exclude or limit our liability where the law doesn’t allow it, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your legal rights as a consumer. If you’re a business, we’re not liable for loss of profit, business or opportunity.
Complaints
If something isn’t right, email jameswinch95@gmail.com and we’ll reply as soon as we can, usually within one working day, and do our best to put it right.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you’re a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. Last updated 28 September 2026.
